Week 1 of Digital Art Processes was an overview of the module structure and content as oppose to any work being produced in the lesson. The lecturer introduced a wide range of reading material with expectations of students to explore the work of digital artists and gain perspective and inspiration from their work, with the addition to a knowledgeable understanding of the evolution of digital art and all it’s influences.
The list of digital artists included some iconic names to be recognised throughout the course, such as Richard Colson and his book on ‘The fundamentals of digital art’ The individual who indeed wrote the KCdigital Arts course. Very exciting material! Amongst the list was Walter Benjamin’s ‘The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction’ set as recommended reading for the week.
